ITA "The Huddle" è un documentario sul desiderio di appartenenza nelle sue implicazioni e contraddizioni.
Il centro dell’indagine è la comunità irlandese con la sua cultura politica, sportiva, musicale e religiosa. Un racconto che si snoda tra due città che sono state teatro delle più profonde vicende che hanno segnato la comunità irlandese nel corso Novecento: Glasgow e Belfast, divise da un braccio di mare ma unite da parte di una stessa cultura.
Huddle è un’azione di gruppo dove, generalmente in cerchio, ci si abbraccia per motivarsi, festeggiare e organizzare un’azione collettiva. Sentirsi uno e tanti allo stesso tempo. È il simbolo di una società costruita attorno a pulsioni e rituali contrastanti, simbolo che trova materializzazione in vari luoghi e situazioni, come concerti, marce, stadi dove i protagonisti del film si ritrovano per sentirsi gruppo, comunità.
Un coro di voci fuori campo tesse la struttura narrativa del film che vuole mostrare, senza giudizi, la forza emotiva e sociale di valori condivisi da gruppi di persone. Diverse sono le storie personali raccontate e il ruolo che questi singoli hanno all’interno della società: si tratta di politici, musicisti, giornalisti, tifosi, combattenti dell’IRA e militanti politici che incarnano la varietà di un mondo ancorato alla fede calcistica per il Celtic Football Club, vero epicentro metaforico e narrativo del film.
I loro ritratti e le loro testimonianze concorrono a offrire un affresco partecipato della vicenda umana e politica di cui si fanno rappresentanti, in un momento delicatissimo per il futuro della comunità irlandese, esposta al ritorno dei fantasmi del suo passato.

The focus of the investigation is the Irish community with its political, sporting, musical and religious culture. A story that unfolds between two cities that were the scene of the deepest events that marked the Irish community during the twentieth century: Glasgow and Belfast, divided by an arm of the sea but united by the same culture.
Huddle is a group action where, generally in a circle, people hug each other to motivate themselves, celebrate and organize collective action. Feeling one and many at the same time. It is the symbol of a society built around conflicting impulses and rituals, a symbol that finds materialization in various places and situations, such as concerts, marches, stadiums where the protagonists of the film come together to feel like a group, a community.
A chorus of off-screen voices weaves the narrative structure of the film that aims to show, without judgments, the emotional and social strength of values shared by groups of people. Different are the personal stories told and the role that these individuals have within society: they are politicians, musicians, journalists, fans, IRA fighters and political militants who embody the variety of a world anchored in the football faith for the Celtic Football Club, the true metaphorical and narrative epicenter of the film.
Their portraits and their testimonies combine to offer a participatory fresco of the human and political story of which they represent, in a very delicate moment for the future of the Irish community, exposed to the return of the ghosts of its past.
